in Kentucky and No. 5 in Washington, D.C." (accurate as of Sept. 30, 2002)
John Allison, CEO and Chairman of BB&T, has explicitly incorporated the principles of Objectivism into its management -- an illustration of the fact that the (properly) moral and the practical go hand in hand.

Marva Collins
Marva Collins is the remarkable teacher who made
national headlines with her private school in a Chicago ghetto after demonstrating (again)
that children are vastly more capable than the evil public schools claim. The book that
covers her remarkable history and results is Marva
Collins' Way. Also currently available is Ordinary
Children, Extraordinary Teachers.
Jaime Escalante
The author of the inspiring book (also made into an
excellent movie) titled
Stand and Deliver, he is another dedicated teacher who showed that
supposed "losers" in a Hispanic high school could achieve great heights if they
put their minds to it. An engineer who turned to teaching, he was told by a typically
dull-witted, moribund public school administration that the students would be hard pressed
to learn algebra. He ended up teaching a class in advanced calculus and the students were
among the highest scoring in California on a standardized test. Stand and Deliver is
unfortunately out of print, but Escalante:
The Best Teacher in America, is currently available. (I haven't
read it yet.)
Gail Paquette's
Homeschooling Site
American public schools are a disaster, wasting billions of
dollars while inflicting thousands of incompetent teachers on American children. Many
parents are turning to home schooling as an alternative to government incompetence and
brainwashing.
The Robinson (Homeschooling)
Curriculum
This appears to be a
useful and comparatively very inexpensive resource for homeschoolers. It
offers 22 CD-ROMs for $195, containing about 120,000 pages of information,
largely from older sources (this can be a real virtue considering the
politicization and watered-down tenor of modern texts.)

of the last show.

Peikoff

Philosophy of Ayn Rand, as well as a revolutionary method of
analyzing history in his book The Ominous Parallels.

Science
Lewis Little's Theory
of Elementary Waves
A causal explanation of quantum phenomena.
This is a serious theory by an actual scientist, giving an alternate development
of quantum
mechanics via a different interpretation of the Schrodinger equation. All existing
observations are predicted, but using an entirely causal, "non weird",
local theory.

Environmentalism is a religion. This site provides
links to, and articles about, evidence of the anti-humanity, destructive
nature of this religion, and scientific rebuttals of its many false claims.
